As many of you may have already heard, Carmel Realty Company purchased the building at the northeast corner of Dolores & 8th in downtown Carmel-by-the-Sea. Almost immediately, architect Craig Holdren of Lietzke & Holdren and general contractor Steve Gere of Paragon Construction, got to work creating a new space for our 31 REALTORS to work, meet with clients and exchange ideas. Our current office, also on Dolores and just south of 7th, will remain as our corporate headquarters as well as home to our Vacation and Long Term Rentals division.
We're on schedule to finish renovations mid-July, with a grand opening planned to coincide with our 100th Anniversary Celebration, August 13, 2013, immediately following Concours on the Avenue during the Concours d'Elegance week.
For the past year, this building has sat empty; prior to that it was home to a title company and at another point a grocery store. The Carmel City Council was very supportive, providing overwhelming approval for our plans. Many members expressed excitement at the improved curb appeal to this previously empty space.
We're working closely with our landscaper architect, Michelle Comeau, to truly beautify this significant intersection in Carmel by creating a welcoming park-like setting while also providing convenient parking to our clients.
We're truly merging the old with the new as we did with our headquarters on Dolores ' custom-made glass doors, touchscreen Apple TVs, and beautiful tile floors. The final design will be Hacienda-inspired as we add a trellis to the exterior and keep the barrel-tiled roof. Combining private offices with a large and open meeting space will increase our team synergy and encourage collaboration.
Please take a moment to walk by to see our progress. 2013 is a big year for Carmel Realty Company as we celebrate 100 years in this community. Our new office space will be the perfect capstone to this special anniversary. This space shepherds us into our next 100 years and we look forward to sharing it with our clients and community.
